What is ?

Zoom unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, group messaging, and a software-defined conference room solution into one easy-to-use platform.

Here’s how Zoom works in Canvas:

Go to any of your courses and within the course navigation menu you will see the 'Zoom' link.
Simply click 'Zoom' and you will be asked to authorize zoom before you can use the tool (Similar to the screenshot below).

(Note: You must already have a UTT Zoom account for this to work on Canvas. See Sign Up instructions below.)
Click Authorize. If you run into the error as seen in screenshot below, this means it is your first time using Zoom within that browser on Canvas.
Once authorization is completed, you will be able to schedule or start meetings with your students.

Sign Up/ Logging In

If you have not created a UTT Zoom Basic Account, please click on Sign Up(https://utt.zoom.us/signup) to create your account. To login, once you have created your UTT zoom account, you can enter your UTT email address and zoom password.

N.B: if you have a UTT Zoom account but cannot remember your password. Please select "Forgot your password"(https://utt.zoom.us/forgot_password).

Schedule a Meeting

Zoom Meetings can be scheduled from within a Canvas Course. Users access the Zoom for Canvas tool from the navigation area for the course. The landing page shows information on upcoming meetings and previous meetings. Any user with the correct permissions will see the Schedule a New Meeting button.

Click the Schedule a New Meeting button to display the Schedule a Meeting page. Fill out the fields in the meeting settings:

Topic: the title of your meeting
When: select a date and time for the meeting
Duration: total amount of time the meeting will be run for (you can enter a meeting early)
Select Recurring meeting if the meeting will occur more than once
Host/Participant: select whether you'd like your/your participants' video to automatically be turn on or off

Start a Meeting

Faculty who have a Zoom Account can click the Start button to launch a scheduled meeting.

Delete a Meeting

To delete a meeting:
1. Click the Delete button next to the meeting to be deleted
2. Click OK in the pop-up dialog to confirm that the meeting is to be deleted.

N.B. Only the meeting creator can delete a meeting that has been created using the Zoom for Canvas tool.
